Kids Need "Risky" Play

Experts say that children who are allowed to play where there may be risk involved is actually good for them. It increases their resiliency and helps them make judgements. They also stress that it is not the end of the world if a child has an accident, you can’t protect them from everything. Many experts believe that fear in parents is much higher than when they were children themselves. Many children have little experience of the "real" outdoors, most of their play time is on playgrounds where everything is considered safe. Next time you’re out with your kids, challenge them to climb a tree or bring them camping in the great outdoors and learn to build a fire. These experiences will help them grow and evolve and know what their own limits are.
