Parenting: The Challenge

I came across an article discussing how to talk to your children about homosexuality and why so many parents are so uncomfortable with it. It’s something parents and their parents before them never really had to discuss. In this day in age homosexuality is common place. Parents today may be a bit squeamish in talking to their children about because they think that the discussion would lead to one about gay sex, but kids don’t think that abstractly, they will only see it has two people in love that happen to be the same sex, it’s not that different than mom and dad. Also there is no concrete answer as to why someone is gay is the question of "how" or "why" arises. The article suggests a couple of books that may help with the conversation. It’s important to educate your kids on this topic and to reassure them that homosexuality is normal and not to be discriminated against.
